1837 10C No Stars, Large Date, F-101b, R.2, MS66 NGC. The fields and devices are unmarked and nearly faultless on this Premium Gem Large Date example. Struck from a lightly rusted obverse die, this Fortin-101b example displays the rightside leg of two radial die cracks that form a pie-shaped combination in a slightly later state of the variety. The crack at 4 o'clock is clear, yet the left leg crack at 7 o'clock is yet to form. Faintly iridescent surfaces display a slate-blue sheen with ivory undertones. The technical quality will be hard to surpass. Census: 25 in 66 (3 in 66+), 7 finer (4/17).
