Bust Half Dollars
1830 50C Small 0, O-113, R.2, MS64+ PCGS. A small but clearly noticeable tine from the left wing shoulder into the field between the wing and neck is the primary pick-up point for the O-113 variety. Everything is sharp on the obverse -- the star centers, the cap folds, the drapery lines, the hair curl definition -- and the reverse is similarly well-struck, save for trivial blending at PLUR on the scroll. Shades of steel-blue and orange-gold provide strong eye appeal over the lustrous, frosty surfaces. This coin should rank third in the O-113 Condition Census by virtue of its PCGS Plus designation according to current rankings in both the Donald Parsley reference and the Spring 2017 Stephen Herrman report (5/17).
