Seated Half Dollars
1873-CC 50C Arrows, Large CC, WB-103, Die Pair 6, R.4, AU55 PCGS. Open 3. The Large CC varieties share a common reverse, which combines with three distinct obverses. Here, the 7 in the date is positioned between two dentils. There is no repunching on the date or misplaced digits below. The Carson City Mint struck roughly twice as many half dollars after the statutory weight was increased infinitesimally part-way through 1873 as it had before the change. Golden color encircles largely brilliant surfaces. Crisp devices display a hint of high-point wear. Population (all Arrows varieties): 16 in 55, 28 finer (4/17).
