Seated Half Dollars
1889 50C WB-101 MS66+ PCGS. A stunning border of reddish-russet hues emerges from a thin band of electric blue toning at the rims and complements the dappled, pearlescent-silver centers of this low-mintage, late-series Seated half. The fields are reflective and virtually without fault as befits the high-end Premium Gem grade. The strike is only a whisper short of full and marks are limited to a few tiny, inconsequential ticks on the portrait. PCGS reports just a single coin with the Plus designation at this grade, and one numerically finer example in circulation-strike format from the 12,000-piece mintage. Population: 13 in 66 (1 in 66+), 1 finer (4/17).
