Proof Seated Half Dollars
1883 50C PR66 Cameo PCGS. The 1883 is one of the late-series Seated half issues that were struck in small quantities, although the proof mintages remained in the normal range. In high grades, proofs are often called on to fill spots in both business strike and advanced proof sets. This example is brilliant-white at the centers and richly frosted on the central motifs. Cobalt-blue, lavender, and amber-gold toning graces the margins while the strongly mirrored fields provide stark white-on-black contrast. The strike is razor-sharp. Population: 14 in 66 Cameo, 4 finer (4/17).
