Classic Quarter Eagles
1839-C $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. Breen-6150, Winter-2, Variety 22, R.4. The 3 in the date is boldly recut. Die cracks appear on the obverse from the rim toward the center from stars 2 and 9 and the 3 in the date. The reverse has die breaks through the eagle's beak and along the top of the left (facing) wing. The coin is well-detailed and displays pleasing olive-gold patina with coppery and greenish overtones in the peripheral fields.
