Liberty Double Eagles
1867 $20 MS61 PCGS. The year 1866 saw a significant modification to the Liberty double eagle design with the addition of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST above the eagle, creating a new collectible subtype. Production fell to 251,015 pieces in the second year of Type Two production. The 1867 is scarce in Mint State, and there are only a handful of coins finer than MS62. Each side offers glittering frost, and rose-golden color. Well-defined with myriad abrasions.
