1883-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. Variety 2-A. Already elusive in Mint State, the 1883-CC seems even moreso because of strong collector demand. Equally popular with series collectors, Carson City specialists, and type mavens, the issue also draws attention for its better-than-average sharpness and eye appeal.
This original example displays a medium-green hue and deep-gray overtones that confirm the naturally aged surfaces. The frosted fields and devices show bright cartwheel luster and only minor busyness exposed areas. The strike is sharp on the star centers, Liberty's hair bun and curls, and throughout the reverse motifs. PCGS reports just 26 numerically finer coins. Population: 67 in 61, 26 finer (4/17).
