Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles
1926-S $20 MS65 PCGS. This no-questions Gem has a pleasing, near full strike, and also displays exceptionally appealing medium golden-orange color. The glowing satiny luster is lovely as well, if not flashy, and helps to accent the exquisitely preserved features. Several small contact marks are visible under the eagle, and the obverse shows only trivial blemishes. An attractive and minimally abraded example of this mass-melted issue. Most certified 1926-S Saints fall into the MS62 to MS64 grade range, and specimens grading as high as the present example can be considered conditionally rare. Population: 38 in 65, 4 finer (4/17).
