Proof Seated Dollars
1845 $1 PR53 PCGS. OC-P1. Original proof dies, repunched date. The number of 1845 proof Seated dollars struck is unknown, although our research identifies only 16 survivors, several of which show light high-point wear. This is among the more affordable examples of this rare early proof issue. The coin is sharply struck and shows remnants of deep reflectivity in the protected regions of the fields. Lavender-gray and olive-gold toning appears on each side along with scattered handling marks. This is a newly discovered proof that will appeal to the Seated dollar specialist. Population: 1 in 53, 11 finer (4/17).
