1916-S $5 MS63 PCGS. As the United States entered World War I, regular issue gold coinage production was halted at all three mints, and only the San Francisco facility produced gold pieces in 1916. A small number of McKinley gold dollars were coined at Philadelphia in 1916 and 1917, but full scale production was halted. This pleasing piece exhibits light yellow-gold surfaces with hints of olive toning and scattered marks that prevent a higher grade.
