Liberty Double Eagles
1872-S $20 MS60 PCGS. Micro S mintmark. With the exception of some mid-1870s issues, Uncirculated Type Two Liberty double eagles are elusive. This 1872-S example is unworn and shows original frosty luster with a rich yellow-gold hue. The design elements are well-struck but all show heavy abrasions. A few relatively severe marks are seen on Liberty's jaw and eyebrow, not out of line for the grade.
