Territorial Gold
(1837-1842) $5 C. Bechtler Five Dollar, RUTHERF:, 128 G. K-23, R.5 -- Repaired, Plugged, Whizzed -- ANACS. XF40 Details. Despite multiple problems, this bright, greenish-gold representative of early Georgia pioneer gold is an acceptable example of Christopher Bechtler's well-received private mint issues struck in Rutherford, North Carolina. Georgia gold was slightly finer than its nearby North Carolina bullion, a fact that did not escape Bechtler's penchant for accuracy and fair dealing. Listed on page 393 of the 2018 Guide Book.
