1874 50C Liberty Round 50 Cents, BG-1033, R.5, MS65 Prooflike NGC. Die State II, cracked on the obverse from star 6 through the portrait. A scarce Period Two round half dollar variety made by Herman J. Brand of San Francisco. This example is the sole finest at NGC and is tied with one other Gem at PCGS as the finest known (4/17). The strike is soft at the centers as usual, while each side exhibits cameo contrast. No edge clip is seen on this example, although it may be hidden by a holder tab.
