AUSTRALIA. Victoria, 1837-1901. Gold Sovereign 1887-S, Sydney. Jubilee head. 7.99 g. KM# 10; Marsh 138 A; S.3868A. Rare Sydney mint 1887-S Jubilee head. Minted with a year total of 1,002,000. 5 or 6 varieties of JEB exist, as described by David Iverson in the book 'The Jubilee Head Gold Sovereign' (2015). This is identified as DISH S4 which has a rarity rating R3, but will be amended to R4 in the next print publication of the book. DISH S1 and S2 are the two most common, S3-S5 are much rarer and S6 has yet not been recorded. Very fine.
