Obv: AVT.K.G.M.KV.TPAIANOC.?EKIOC Bust radiate, draped, cuirassed r. Rx: E? ?VP (AV ligate) P?VF?? / ??V ??? above, OMONOIA on ground line, FI?A?E?FEON N (NN ligate) / EOK EFECION in exergue. In l. background, three-quarter view of a temple on a podium; in center, Tyche of Philadelphia standing l., head r., holding statuette of Diana of Ephesus in r. hand; on r., two young men (Dioscuri?) standing r., looking l., each wearing cloak around shoulders but otherwise naked. Ex Cederlind 130, 30 March 2004, lot 117. Apparently only the fourth recorded specimen of this coin commemorating alliance between Philadelphia and Ephesus under Decius. The other three, all from the same die pair as ours, are in Paris, Rome, and Berne ex Righetti Collection. As RPC notes, the same obverse die was also used with three non-alliance reverse types of Decius at Philadelphia, and for a coin of Decius at MaeoniaPlanchet chip at 3:00.
