Luigi Borghi (1745-1806), violinist and composer, later acting manager of the opera company at the Pantheon Theatre. His benefit concert consisted of two performances of musical recitals. The tickets, available from Mr Borghi at 5 John street, Great Portland street, cost half-a-guinea each.

The Hanover Square Rooms were acquired by Sir John Gallini in 1774 and converted into a venue for concerts, the first of which was staged in February 1775. It remained one of London's principal concert venues until closure in 1874
