Republic Yuan Shih-kai silver "L. Giorgi" Pattern Specimen Dollar 1914 SP65 PCGS, Tientsin mint, L&M-859, Kann-642A, KM-Pn28. A sublime example of this rare "L. Giorgi" signed pattern dollar, easily among the finest we have seen, and worthy of great praise not only for the exemplary state of its technical preservation, but also for the eye-appeal that is retained. Even upon close inspection, the surfaces appear to border on pristine, without noticeable instances of contact, handling or other forms of negative influence. The fields, highly reflective with die polish lines on each side, fully fit the typical characteristics of a Specimen striking and soft satin-textured frost on the raised surfaces creates a delicate cameo contrast. Rounding out the appearance is faint mauve toning, with an instance or two of golden-russet color at the rims. A numismatic masterpiece, this coin is bound to advance the quality of whatever collection it enters next!
