Hong Kong
British Colony. Victoria bronzed Proof Pattern Mule Cent 1862 PR63 Brown PCGS, KM-Pn34, Prid-290. Obv: ONE CENT inside wreath with HONG - KONG, crossed hammer and lion privy marks at outer legend. Rev: Four Chinese characters around central circle that read: HSIANG CHIANG I HSIEN. Very rare as a pattern issue and possessing exemplary eye-appeal, with highly reflective surfaces that are uniformly sharp and feature scintillating green-blue patina in the open fields and rich fuchsia and orange color that clings to the raised surfaces. The only example of this type we have seen offered at public auction in a least a decade, with an example cataloged as this type by Stack's Bowers in 2015 (but actually being Prid-291 of presumably similar rarity) bringing $11,000 hammer.
