Japan
Ring Money Pair ND, possibly over 2,000 years old. We have had a difficult time determining the exact area of this unusual "ring money." The Japanese had a form of this money called, "Kin Kwan," and "Gin Kwan." These pieces were hollow copper rings, the Kin Kwan with a thin layer of gold over copper and the Gin Kwan with a thin layer of silver over copper. The pieces offered here are not hollow and appear to be solid copper. One piece is 20mm, 9.15g, and the second piece is 30mm, 21.36g. These pieces do not seem to fit the style of the Japanese rings. Perhaps they are African or Celt. They are both well made, with considerable encrustation.
