Gallienus, 253-268. Antoninianus (Silver, 23 mm, 6.26 g, 6 h), Cologne, 258-259. GALLIENVS P F AVG Radiate and cuirassed bust of Gallienus to right. Rev. VIRT GALLIENI AVG Gallienus, holding transverse spear in right hand and shield in left, trampling enemy to right. Cohen 54. MIR 890h. RIC 54. Weakly struck on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
This is an interesting coin: it is double the usual weight, which strongly suggests that it was struck on two flans in error. In fact, the edge shows some metal folding that most likely results from the mint error.
