Postumus, Romano-Gallic Emperor, 260-269. Antoninianus (Silvered bronze, 21 mm, 2.74 g, 6 h), Cologne, early 269. IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Postumus to right. Rev. P M TR P X COS V P P Postumus, togate, standing front, head left, holding branch in right hand and scepter in left. AGK (corr.) 67. Cunetio 2470. Elmer 596. Very rare and interesting. The reverse a bit weak and with minor corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.
From the Imperium Galliarum Collection, formed over the past 20 years.
This is the last type issued for Postumus: it celebrates the accession of his 5th consulship, but the rarity of the issue indicates that he was killed by his revolting troops soon thereafter.
