Egypt, Alexandria. Dattari. Gordian III, 238-244 Tetradrachm circa 240-241 (year 4), billon 22mm., 12.17g. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust r. Rev. Nike seated l., holding wreath and palm frond; in front, L Δ. Geissen -. Dattari-Savio Pl. 253, 12407 (this coin).
Good Very Fine.
From the Dattari collection.
Dattari place this coin at the beginning of the series of Nike seated left, but in our opinion because of the obverse legend and the fact that Gordian III is laureate this specimen can not not aasigned to year one.
