The Corieltavi were a large, wealthy northeastern tribe who were highly advanced and who, according to Van Arsdell, ""used complex privy marks on their coins for die control, weight specification and perhaps even identification of metallurgical content."" They continued striking gold staters long after their neighbors did, continuing until the Roman conquest of Claudius.
