Gordian II, 238. Denarius (Silver, 21 mm, 3.29 g, 5 h), Rome. IMP M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian II to right. Rev. PROVIDENTIA AVGG Providentia standing facing, head to left, leaning on low column to right and holding a wand in her right hand and a cornucopia with her left; to left, at her feet, globe. BMC 19. RIC 1. Very rare, sharp and clear; An attractive lightly toned example struck on a broad flan with an unparalleled portrait of Gordian. Flan crack on 2´, otherwise, virtually as struck.
