Zeno. Second reign, AD 476-491. AV Solidus (21mm, 4.42 g, 6h). Constantinople mint, 2nd officina. Struck AD 477-491. D N ZENO P ERP AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder with right hand, on left arm a shield decorated with horseman spearing an enemy below / Victory standing facing, head left, holding long jeweled cross; star to right; B//CONOB. RIC X 905; Depeyrot 108/1. Good VF, metal flaw on Zeno's face, light graffiti on both sides. Depeyrot speculates that the variety with the spearpoint between the P and E of PERP in the obverse legend is a contemporary imitation.
