1871 25C MS65 Prooflike NGC. Briggs-2B. This Gem 1871 quarter boasts beautifully reflective fields and frosty surfaces that are well within the context of the Prooflike designation. The strike is bold but not quite absolute, and the already-high eye appeal is furthered by the lovely ring of peach-gold toning encircling each side. The 1871 quarter issue was a low 118,200 circulation strikes -- even though that was the largest production since the end of the Civil War. NGC reports four other MS65 specimens of this issue, but this is the sole Prooflike in any grade (5/17).
