1878 25C PR67 PCGS. Briggs 4-D. Dusky lilac-gray toning blankets the obverse, although viewed at an angle pleasing iridescent colors and deep mirroring suddenly appear. A crescent of azure-blue toning abuts the rim from star 9 downward through the exergue. The toning on the reverse displays similar coloration, arranged blue above, lilac-gray below, with strong mirrors, iridescent undertones, and frosted raised elements. Just 800 proofs were struck, but none is certified finer at PCGS. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (5/17).
