Early Half Dollars
1794 50C O-105a, T-3, R.6, Good 4 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 1/3. Although it is the second-most available die pair among 1794 halves, Overton-105 is still notably scarce in all grades and die states. Most first-year Flowing Hair halves are -- by far -- struck from O-101 or O-101a dies, with all of the other varieties scarce to rare in comparison. This late die state O-105a is smoothly worn with considerable die sinking visible at the upper reverse. Attractive rich, old-silver color deepens at the margins accented pleasing gold undertones. A few faint slide marks on the obverse do not detract from the otherwise problem-free, pleasing appearance.
