Seated Half Dollars
1842-O 50C Medium Date, Large Letters, WB-102, Die Pair 12, R.3, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. This beauty has lustrous surfaces beneath light caramel-gold and olive toning. It is crisply struck and minimally abraded, an exceptional coin for the grade. Struck from a late state of the dies, where lapping diminished the size of the first three stars. This is a surprisingly scarce date in all grades, and a condition rarity in Mint State grades. PCGS has certified a total of just 17 Mint State 1842-O half dollars, including six near-Gems and one Gem (6/17).
