Walking Liberty Half Dollars
1918-D 50C MS64 PCGS. The Denver Mint was mainly concerned with extending die life as it struck 3.8 million Walking Liberty half dollars in 1918. The result is an issue that usually comes softly struck. This satiny near-Gem is typical in that regard, but is far finer than the average representative, which grades barely higher than AU50. The peripheries display dappled gold and crimson patina, while the interiors are largely brilliant. PCGS reports 30 finer submissions (5/17).
