Proof Trade Dollars
1878 T$1 PR64+ Deep Cameo PCGS. A limited proof-only mintage of 900 Trade dollars was produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1878, but business-strike examples were struck at the branch mints. This Plus-graded Choice specimen exhibits strongly impressed design elements, but some detail in the eagle's feathers is missing, due to lapping. The fields are deeply mirrored and contrast profoundly with the frosty devices. The well-preserved surfaces show hints of pale gold toning. Population: 5 in 64 (1 in 64+) Deep Cameo, 2 finer (5/17).
