Gold Dollars
1863 G$1 AU58 PCGS. Only 6,200 circulation-strike gold dollars were minted in 1863, along with a short production run of 50 proofs. Survivors are rare in all grades. PCGS and NGC have graded just 49 finer pieces, combined (5/17). Like most circulation-strikes, this piece has reflective fields and light cameo contrast, with lovely rose toning over the light yellow surfaces on both sides. A splendid representative of this scarce issue. Population: 5 in 58, 23 finer (5/17).
