Liberty Quarter Eagles
1853 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1853 quarter eagle had a relatively large mintage of almost 1.5 million pieces, but survivors are scarce at the higher grade levels. Gleaming luster and gorgeous light gold color provide this Gem with a tremendous degree of visual appeal. The second line in the second vertical stripe of the shield is virtually absent, as-struck due to polished dies. Numerous die polish lines are present on the reverse. A tiny area of darker color appears below the eagle's right wing. Population: 7 in 65 (1 in 65+), 3 finer. CAC: 4 in 65, 1 finer (5/17).
