Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1874 $3 MS64 PCGS. This near-Gem 1874 three dollar gold type coin is virtually pristine on the reverse and shows only slight contact on Liberty's cheek on the obverse. Frosty yellow-gold luster is uninterrupted save for a deep green and coppery surface discoloration at 12:30 on the obverse periphery. The wreath bowknot is weakly struck as usual, being the only point of the design that is noticeably so. PCGS reports just 22 numerically finer gold three dollar pieces (5/17).
