Liberty Double Eagles
1890-CC $20 AU55 NGC. Variety 1-A. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces of this impressive Choice AU double eagle are remarkably lightly abraded for a Carson City issue. Vibrant mint luster radiates from both sides and the strongly impressed design elements show just a trace of wear. The reverse was die doubled, but much of the doubling has been effaced by lapping, along with some detail in the eagle's tail.
