Bust Quarters
1832 25C B-2, R.2, MS63 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 3/1. Just two varieties of the 1832 quarter are known despite a mintage of 320,000 pieces, and they share the same obverse. This is an example of the conditionally scarce Browning-2 die pair, which features small, short arrowheads on the reverse. The surfaces of this Select Uncirculated example are faintly iridescent and display hints of golden luster beneath prevalent bluish-brown toning. Some deep-seated prooflikeness remains beneath the attractive patina. The strike is sharp throughout, but especially so on the less-used reverse die, which was carried over after a brief appearance in 1831. Population (both varieties combined): 20 in 63 (1 in 63+), 16 finer (6/17).
