U.S. Mint Medals
1783-Dated The American Revolution MS63 Brown NGC. Betts-621, Julian-CM-7, Greenslet-81. Bronze, 40 mm. A rare and early U.S. Mint medal. The dies were made by Assistant Engraver John Reich between 1806 and 1808, as part of a series of medals (Julian-CM-4 through Julian-CM-8) that commemorate the U.S. victory in the Revolutionary War. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin; the reverse shows a partial globe, an American eagle, and the date 1783, the year peace was concluded. A lovely deep brown example despite three minor obverse spots.
