1845 $1 AU58 PCGS. OC-1, R.2. Osburn-Cushing Die State c/b. A circulation-strike mintage of just 24,500 pieces required a single die pair, confirmed by the position of the date and and by a strong die line in the shield recesses. Die clashing on both sides indicates a late state of the dies. Much definition remains on this minimally circulated near-Mint State example. The bright-silver surfaces are semireflective in the fields with several minor abrasions and light, high-point wear on the devices. Population: 14 in 58, 27 finer (6/17).
