Trade Dollars
1873-S T$1 MS63+ PCGS. Struck for trade purposes with East Asia, the first-year 1873-S Trade dollar was subject to significant circulation and heavy melting overseas. Select Uncirculated examples, especially those with an added Plus designation, are notably rare. Copious luster issues from surfaces lightly toned in shades of pale blue and gold. Softness on Liberty's head and the right claw is typical , but detail is crisp elsewhere. Population: 26 in 63 (1 in 63+), 36 finer (5/17).
