Proof Trade Dollars
1877 T$1 PR64 Cameo NGC. A faint ivory-gold sheen mellows the otherwise brilliant, mirrored fields of this Choice Trade dollar proof. Rich mint frost covers the raised motifs to justify the designated Cameo contrast. Just 710 examples of this proof-only issue were struck -- all with the Type Two obverse and Type Two reverse -- and near-Gem examples are scarce. We note a few delicate lines throughout the fields, yet the strike is much sharper than often seen. The top of Liberty's head and the surrounding stars are fully brought up. Census: 12 in 64 Cameo, 9 finer (5/17).
