Glassy, uncontrasted fields on each side are characteristic of this quicksilver period in U.S. proof manufacture, although the chromelike effect here is dampened a bit by champagne-gold patina on each side. The strike is surprisingly soft over the ear but adequate elsewhere, and there are few signs of overt contact.
