Liberty Eagles
1845-O $10 AU53 PCGS. Variety 3, with the date recut (most visible at the 4). The 1845-O eagle circulated extensively, with most of the 47,500-coin mintage lost to attrition. Survivors are scarce in all grades but particularly so in AU. Uncirculated pieces are rare. This example offers sharp design elements with little wear. Bright yellow-gold surfaces have the usual scattering of minor abrasions consistent with New Orleans gold from this period. Population: 13 in 53, 16 finer (5/17).
