Liberty Double Eagles
1855-S $20 XF40 NGC. Medium S. Although a number of 1855-S twenties were recovered from the S.S. Central America, it is unlikely that the present lot was from that famous shipwreck, since its die marriage does not match any of those noted by SSCA numismatist Robert Evans. The almond-gold surfaces show moderate wear. Only lightly abraded for the grade, except on the obverse rim near 3 o'clock.
