Liberty Double Eagles
1889-CC $20 XF45 NGC. Variety 1-A. The flood of silver dollars occupied much of the Philadelphia Mint's efforts and those of the branch mints as well, although coinage operations of any kind at the recently reopened Carson City facility were beset with problems and slow to resume. Low mintages of both silver dollars and twenty dollar gold pieces were struck during the year. This Choice XF double eagle has glimpses of luster around the raised devices and displays attractive orange-gold coloration. Sharp definition remains, while the scattered small abrasions are minimized by 15 points of wear.
