Territorial Gold
(1842-52) G$1 A. Bechtler Dollar, 27G. 21C., Plain Edge AU53 PCGS. K-24, R.3. August Bechtler took over his father's private coinage business around 1840. The Bechtler gold coinage was highly regarded for its consistent weight and fineness, and examples could be found in circulation until the Civil War. This lightly worn orange-gold example is free of large or distracting abrasions and shows traces of prooflike reflectivity around the devices. Housed in a green label holder. Listed on page 393 of the 2018 Guide Book.
