L. Flaminius Chilo (109-108 BC). AR denarius.  NGC VF. Rome. ROMA; helmeted head of Roma right, denomination mark X before / L. FLAMIN below, CILO in exergue; Victory driving galloping biga right. Crawford 302/1. Sydenham 540. Flaminia 1. Well centered and lightly toned.

The Flaminia gens was a plebian name apparently derived from the term "flamen," or priest. The cognomen Chilo means "large lips," however on this coin it is rendered CILO which means "elongated head."
