The reverse depicts one of Rome's most iconic monuments, Trajan's Column, erected circa AD 113 in commemoration of that emperor's campaign of conquest against Dacia. The columns spiral band of bas reliefs carries the most detailed extant visual record of the Roman legions on campaign.
