Septimius Severus (AD 193-211). AR denarius. NGC Choice Fine 4/5 - 4/5. Egypt, Alexandria, AD 193. IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG, laureate head of Severus right / ROMAE AETERNAE, Roma seated left on shield, holding scepter and Victory. RIC 350G (R). RSC / Cohen 615 corrected (SEP instead of SEPT, seated on shield, not low seat). Extremely rare issue of the Alexandria mint!
All denarii of Severus struck at Alexandria date from the outset of his reign; all are very to extremely rare today. This example seems to be the only denarius of its type (Roma seated) to have been offered at auction in 15+ years.
