Bar Kochba small bronze struck 133-135 C. E. 5.00 g.
An enigmatic small bronze of Bar Kochba. About 15-20 holed coins of Bar Kochba are known to me, but I have never seen anything like the reverse of this coin. It looks like the original palm tree on reverse has been completely erased and then replaced by another one, directly engraved on the coin. It is possible this engraving job was just for an artistic purpose. It is also possible that some metal had to be removed to finely adjust the weight of this coin for using it as a weight.
